Introduction

• The European network for Health Technology Assessments (EUnetHTA) is a voluntary cross-border initiative on HTA harmonization which was established by the European Commission in 2005 and ended May 2021
• Between 2016-2021, EUnetHTA completed 56 Joint Assessments (28 drugs; 28 other technologies) including 14 reviews of COVID treatments
• In September 2021, the EUnetHTA 21 joint consortium was tasked with supporting the continuation of the EU collaboration until September 2023. The focus of EUnetHTA 21 is to develop methodological and transversal guidelines, templates, and procedures which will set the stage for a future EU HTA system under the EU HTA Regulation
• Acknowledging that during this period, EUnetHTA will only conduct 1-2 joint clinical assessments (JCAs) on drugs, we conducted a deep dive on previous assessment to determine lessons from the past voluntary joint action experience and ways forward
