Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are an important benchmark used by regulators and payers to measure the quality of a new treatment. The standard process for assessment translation in the market involves several stakeholders, including the eCOA vendor, a translation agency and the trial sponsor. When sponsors want to use an assessment, the vendor generates translation screens and provides them to the translation agency. Next, the content is translated manually by the translation agency, followed by an exhaustive review process that can take up to a few months to complete.
To address this industry-wide inefficiency, IQVIA has introduced an in-house, first-of-its-kind translation process that eliminates the back-and-forth communication with third-party translation agencies. Since IQVIA Translation Services and IQVIA eCOA are part of the same group, the translation service can access IQVIA eCOA’s platform via internal systems for a streamlined translations implementation and review process. This cutting-edge collaboration allows translators to conduct the entire translation process digitally.
The addition of translation services to the IQVIA eCOA Platforms offers several benefits for users. IQVIA clients can now access pre-built translations in the library with quick turnaround times and increased quality. The streamlined process and elimination of unnecessary manual activities means that costs are reduced while quality remains high. This is due to study and library related tasks being performed by qualified translators with direct system access.
Translations can also be re-used across studies, with multiple different language versions available for a single project. Once a translation is validated and migrated into the library system, re-use only requires a screenshot review that reduces timelines to complete, compared to the lengthy industry standards.
