Globally, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is associated with significant mortality and disability, with atherosclerotic CVD (ASCVD) contributing to majority of CVD disease burden. Asia Pacific region including Korea is no exception as ASCVD continues to incur significant social-economic cost resulting in productivity loss. Unless immediate and comprehensive action is taken, the economic and health impact of ASCVD is only expected to increase, further fuelled by an aging population. This white paper will explore the unmet needs in CVD, as well as strategies to address the growing disease burden and avoid a future public health crisis.
